When I was growing up in the 90s, one of my favorite slasher films that got me into the genre was Scream. In my opinion, it's one of the best films that has a great satire on the cliches of the slashers with it's self aware meta humor. I love the characters including Sidney, Dewie, Randy, and Gail. I also enjoyed how clever it was with the self-references and guessing who the killer is that is making up the rules of the killings. My favorite entry is surprisingly Scream 2 because to me it redefines the rules and makes the stakes higher with the characters and captures the humor and horror pretty well. Here's my ranking of the films: Scream 2 Scream 1 Scream 4 Scream 3 I have not seen all of the TV series that came on last year so I cant judge that show until I've watched all of it.
