Fargo (1996) Retro Review

Fargo, a film released in 1996, is one of my top 50 all time favorite films ever made and my favorite Coen Brothers flick. Seeing as I just finished both season 1& 2 Fargo and did the reviews on both, I figured I'd review this film. Fargo stars William H Macy, Frances McDormand, Steve Buscemi, and Peter Stormare. A true reality based dark comedy/ crime drama set in Minnesota, 1987. Jerry Lundegaard (William H Macy) has got himself in serious debt. In desperate of money, he hires 2 thugs played by Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare to kidnap his wife for ransom so he can keep partial of the money, until the scheme collapses in which the thugs end up killing a state trooper. A local deputy ( Frances Mcdormand) ends up piecing the link to the death of the trooper and the kidnapping. She gets closer in connecting Jerry Lundegaard with the crimes. This is a flawless flick with not one single problem. This is one of the best films of 1996. The cast is so iconic. It also created memorable lines with the thick Minnesota accent like: '"YAH !!!" "yah !!", "You betcha!". The snowy atmosphere is also beautiful. Every cast did their part in an Oscar worthy performance level with amazing dialogue. I really loved Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare. Its their best performances. I give it a perfect 10/10.
