Eddie here. Today I'm reviewing the live-action 2016 family / fantasy film Pete's Dragon, directed by David Lowrey and stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, Karl Urban, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley and Oona Laurence. Pete's Dragon is a live action reboot to the original 1977 animated musical about a boy named Pete who befriends a dragon after a tragic accident that leaves Pete lost in the woods. After local loggers discover Pete and his dragon living in the woods, they try taking the dragon hostage for fame and fortune. Now I have watched the original cartoon version but that was so long ago that I barely remember it. I really did enjoy this live action version a lot. I thought the cast was wonderful and it had a lot of emotional scenes that really got to me. I really love the visual shots of the forest that Pete and his dragon live in. The story is very simple and they really don't do much of a backstory for the dragon, which was a bit disappointing but it was still an enjoyable film. I'm going to give Pete's Dragon a 7.5/10 and I do recommend it for a family movie night.
