War For The Planet Of The Apes - Written Movie Review (Eddie's Thoughts)

Eddie here. Today I'm reviewing the third installment to the Planet of the Apes reboot series: War for the Planet of the Apes, directed by Matt Reeves and stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Amiah Miller, and Steve Zahn. Caeser (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly war with an army of soldiers led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer massive defeat, Caesar puts his instincts to the test and begins his own quest to avenge his kind. When the journey brings both Caesar and the Colonel face to face, both are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate for both of their species. I must say, I absolutely loved this new take on this franchise. Both Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes are both phenomenal films and I knew this one was going to be even better. I got to say, I was blown away yet again with this film just like I was with the last two films. Of course I praise the cast in this film as they never disappoint and I loved Woody Harrelson as the villain. He was downright brutal and I think he's the best villain of this franchise, even though I like all of the villains from the previous films. I absolutely loved the cinematography, especially the snowy atmosphere in this film. What got me the most is the emotional impact that keeps on coming throughout, making it the best of the franchise. Like some trilogies out there, they seem to get better and better each film they make. I got to say this is easily one of my best trilogy packs I've seen since the Star Trek reboot trilogy and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series. I would easily put this in my Top 10 all time best trilogies and War for the Planet of the Apes will be making my top 10 best films of 2017. The only minor con i had with this film was that I felt they could have gave Woody Harrelson a bigger fight in the end. Other than that, this film is completely flawless. I also loved the emotional score that blended well with the film. I highly recommend this film and I'm going to give War for the Planet of the Apes a 9.5/10 .
