Eddie here. Today I'm reviewing the 2017 crime film, Baby Driver, directed by Edgar Wright and stars Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jon Bernthal and among others. Getaway driver Baby (Ansel Elgort) relies on music from his personal soundtrack to help him be the best in the game. Being forced to pay off a debt by working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), Baby must face the music as a doom heist threatens his life, freedom, and the woman of his dreams. When I saw the trailers to this film, it looked really interesting, especially since I'm a big fan of Edgar Wright. I gotta say, I really did enjoy this film. I really liked the writing and I thought everyone's performances were fantastic. I loved Kevin Spacey as the semi-villain. He always plays such a good villain in everything he does. This also gave me a chance at seeing Ansel Elgort more since he's a new upcoming actor and he did a great job and I can't wait to see what other roles he chooses in the future. I think one of its strongest points is the soundtrack to this movie; a lot of great classic rock songs we get to hear and at times it has a 50s-ish vibe to certain scenes, even though it's set in modern times. There's quite a few times that the film takes different turns I didn't see coming, which is always a plus for me. As for my cons: I did enjoy the plot, but I wish they could've done more with it. I also wondered what happened to Jon Bernthal's character. I know Edgar Wright is known for foreshadowing in his films and they apparently did that with Jon Bernthal's character, but I wanted to see more of him. I have a few more minor cons with this film, but I don't wanna spoil anything. It was an entertaining film, but I wouldn't put it in my Top 10 best list. I'm going to give Baby Driver an 8/10.
