I'm reviewing the 2017 Comedy/ Drama film, Gifted, directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2) and stars Chris Evans, Jenny Slate, Mckenna Grace, Octavia Spencer, and Lindsay Duncan. Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising his genius niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) in a coastal town in Florida. Frank's plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old's mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank's hateful mother, Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan), who's plans for her granddaughter threatens to separate Frank and Mary. I have to say, I really enjoyed this film. I enjoyed all the performances from all the cast members, especially Chris Evans who gives an outstanding performance. It shows that he can really branch out into other roles instead of just being known for his role of Captain America. I thought Chris Evans and the seven-year-old, Mckenna Grace had great chemistry together. Mckenna Grace is a very talented young actress. I believe she's going to have an excellent career down the road. This film is full of emotions and it had heartfelt comedy that I felt blended very well as the film went along that had me laughing and smiling. I really enjoyed the story of this film. I didn't get bored once. If I had any complaints, I guess there's a few editing issues where they kind of fast forward time, but that was only a minor issue. Other than that, it's a great film and I do recommend it. I'm going to give Gifted a 9/10.
